
Participants of WONET seminar on topic women and employment visited the “Plant Center” Grgarske ravne in Nova Gorica on February 26th 2016. The center director Mr. Boris Kante was the host. The basic reason for founding the “Plant center” is self-employment. From total number of members, 85% are women.
Center is engaged in growing aromatic and medicinal herbs and in their processing. The arable land is 1888 m² and it is planted with 30 species of plants.
The Center guests had an opportunity to try some of the products, such as domestic biscuit with mint, domestic green tea, but coffee dandelion made the strongest impression on the visitors.
The host made a detailed introduction of guests to the technology of work and to the ways of production of etheric oil. It is of special importance that the Center engages in employing persons with disabilities. Last year, they successfully completed the project with the association of blind and visually impaired persons, as well as with the association of women with osteoporosis.
The “Plant Center” is an example of good practice of networking of women, pensioners, people with disabilities and local authorities.
Seminar participants took with them serenity, solidarity and optimism from Nova Gorica. All the attributes of the “pant Center” and its members.
